Kandamis 3
The Kandamis 3 development well was drilled in 1991, in Polmak's IR/PAS/2694 license in the Thrace Basin within Marmara District 1. Previously; the Kandamis 1 and 2 wells which had been drilled nearly on top of the Kandamis structure; an elliptical anticline; as determined by seismic sections.
The Kandamis 3 well was drilled in 1991 in order to test the Gas-Water-Contact (GWC) towards the northern edge of the structure. The goal was to explore the gas possibilities of the Oliocene Osmancik Sandstones.
Evaluation of Log and Drilling Data indicate that sandstone formations in the Osmancik formation are thin (1 to 3 meters thick) in the well. Interpretations of the FDC-CNL log which clearly shows gas intervals indicate very thin log separation.
With this data it was concluded that the Kandamis 3 well was drilled close to the GWC and abandoned as a gas show well in the Kandamis structure.
